Hex Head Drive mandrels for seating threaded inserts. Available in M4, M5, M6, M8, M10 and M12.
Depending on the batch some inserts have a slot for an insertion tool we do not supply.
If you use a screwdriver it may chew up the insert.
All inserts - brass and zinc - are best seated using a set screw mandrell as below.
We offer insert mandrels for those customers who have difficulty finding set screws (full thread bolts) of adequate length.
INSERTION
Drill an appropriate hole and using a spanner or socket in a cordless drill wind the insert into the work taking care to vertically align the rig. .
When fully seated break apart the jamn nuts to allow removal of the mandrel thus avoiding the insert winding back out again.
Note: It is possible to insert two or more inserts ganged onto the one mandrell. It may be advisable to have a machine tap to finish the job
Note: We offer for sale the pictured mandrell assembly only. The hex square drive socket and socket mandrel are NOT INCLUDED in our offer.
