Cowhide 5mm thick leather paddle strop mounted on a 8mm ply backing. Dimensions 95 x 265mm.
The use of a leather stop for putting a final hone on edge tools is probably as old as our species. A honing compound is recommended. To prepare the strop roughen the leather face as desired with sand paper, apply the compound and when using a tool on it draw the blade towards you. Do not push the blade against the leather. It is usually best practice not to roll over the cutting edge.
