Exquisitely crafted, Japanese carpenter's axe with hand forged, laminated head with white paper edge steel core. The edge is curved to cut in slight shear and head has a wide beard and narrow throat to assist with hewing large beam or trunk sections. The red indentation is a deliberate 'flaw' with religious significance in Japan similar to the Muslim carpet makers who introduce a flaw because only God is perfect. Supplied with a leather sheath.
