Description

HERDIM BLOCK PLANES

A block plane is usually among the first two or three planes acquired and useful for a very wide range of woodworking pursuits.
They are commonly available in standard and low angle variants - a low angle is deemed to work end grain best. 
Refer to the table below to see probably the most extensive family of quality block planes from the one maker on the market.
There are closed body blocks and rebate full width mouth blocks capable of clearing up to the edge of a shoulder or rebate. Some have an adjustable mouth to provide cut support for the finest shavings.
There are three blade material options: High Carbon SK4 steel, Japanese Blue Paper and Cryogenically treated High Speed Steel (HSS).
These high precision planes feauture a fine blade feed and a polished cap iron which lies comfortably in the hand.
A cast steel construction is some comfort if dropped onto a concrete floor where fragile cast iron bodies are more likely to crack.
