This curious reproduction is made in two pieces: a 1 3/4" × 3" (45 x 75mm) mounting plate and a 4" (100mm) hook with a height of 3 1/2".(89mm)  The hook engages the mounting plate, using a sliding tapered dovetail.

While there may not be much additional utility in having a removable hook, the design did allow all faces of the piece to be detailed.
