Lightweight, all-steel shears for pruning fruit trees and vines. Made in Master Nishigaki’s workshop. Differentially hardened, unlaminated steel, polished blades, adjustable cutting action.
According to legend, the benefits of pruning were discovered thanks to a wild donkey who upon breaking into a vineyard in Ancient Greece, helped himself to a sizeable portion of the vines. Much to the farmer’s surprise, the vines which had been trimmed by the donkey bore far more grapes than the others. Upon making this observation, the farmer quickly learned to cut back the vines himself and was subsequently rewarded with richer harvests than ever before. If you also prefer trimming your plants yourself (and without the help of pesky four-legged friends), we especially recommend Japanese hand-forged shears. Their razor-sharp cutting edges sever twigs, branches and stems without damaging the structure of the plant.
