Blank, Pen Making, Stabilised Wood, Chestnut, 140 x 22 x 22mm, #832220
Description
Stabilised wood for knife handles and woodturning
The horse chestnut is not originally a native plant. It was not until 1561, that the horse chestnut arrived in Prague via an envoy from Constantinople and spread throughout Europe. Horse chestnut wood is used for furniture making and carving.
Stabilised woods are completely impregnated with synthetic resin in a vacuum pressure process. The result is a stable and low-odour hybrid material. Stabilised wood is water-repellent, non-warping and can be worked just as normal wood. It is therefore the best choice for all situations where wood is exposed to tough conditions and warping is to be avoided. Weight and density correspond to tropical hardwoods.
